Parco Frassanelle, with its neoclassical style villa, is one of the most famous destinations in the Euganean Hills with a rare historical and environmental value, an extraordinarily intact and unspoiled example of rural life in centuries gone by.
The 16th century villa with its square layout immediately catches the eye because of its stylish staircase and was created by the conversion of the Papafava Counts’ old hunting lodge. Later, their grandson extended the park, adding interesting features such as the artificial caves, a number of ponds and even stalactites and stalagmites.
Today, Parco Frassanelle is open to visitors with guided tours also available. On certain special occasions, or on request, it is possible to take a tour in the company of Countess Francesca Papafava.
Another way to really get the most out of Parco Frassanelle is to stay in one of the spaces such as the Aster, the carpenter’s old apartment; the Tempietto, a delightful little Ionic temple surrounded by greenery and converted into a holiday home; and the Toretta, a tower which houses four mini-apartments.
The larger agricultural buildings (such as the cellar, porticoes, barnyard and granary) are used to host weddings, business events, private parties and many other activities open to the public, whilst the vast park is the ideal setting for forest bathing.
